Signing In
My institution subscribes to First Aid Forward for me. How do I gain access?
In First Aid Forward, you have two options for accessing your institution’s subscription and registering for an account: 1) Temporary Access Link OR 2) Setting a password.
To register for your account:

Go to the First Aid Forward homepage for the product you want to access:
- Step 1: https://firstaid.mheducation.com/step-one
- Step 2: https://firstaid.mheducation.com/step-two
- If your institution subscribes to both products, you can gain access to both by registering for each product. You’ll then have access to both products on one First Aid Forward account.
- You can register and sign in from on- or off-campus.
- Enter your institutional email address (e.g., firstname.lastname@university.edu). Your authentication is based on your email address, so you must use your institutional email address.
- Enter your personal information.

Choose your account creation method:
- Receive Temporary Access Link: You will receive an email with a link to sign in. The link is temporary—it is one-time use and must be used within 24 hours.
- Enter Password Manually: Set a password for your First Aid Forward account. Important: If you have a Boards & Beyond, Clinical Reasoning, and/or First Aid Forward account with the same email, the password you enter when registering for First Aid Forward will also be the new password for your Boards & Beyond, Clinical Reasoning, and/or First Aid Forward account(s).
- Acknowledge the terms and conditions.

Check your email and click on the link you receive to sign in:
- If you selected Temporary Access Link as your sign-in method, click the link to be verified and sign in.
- If you selected Enter Password Manually as your sign-in method, you will receive a link to verify your email. Click the link to be verified and sign in. The verification link is only necessary the first time you sign in and when reverifying your account every 180 days; most of the time, you’ll be able to just enter your password and sign in.

You now have access to First Aid Forward for 180 days. Reverify your account every 180 days to maintain access to your institutions’ subscription. To reverify your account:

- If you have access to both products, you must reverify your account for each product.
- Enter your institutional email address. Click Continue.

If you have access through your Institution: It’s possible your account needs to be reverified (accounts must be reverified once every 180 days so that we can confirm you’re still associated with your institution).
To reverify your account and regain access:

I didn’t get a temporary access link.
- Check your junk/spam folder.
- Return to the First Aid Forward homepage. Re-enter your institutional email address. Make sure you enter it correctly and with no extra spaces or extra characters.
My temporary access link expired.
Return to the First Aid Forward homepage. Re-enter your institutional email address to request a new temporary access link.
I have an account in First Aid Forward but forgot my password. How can I sign in?
To reset your password:
- Go to any First Aid Forward homepage:
- Enter your email address and click Continue.
- On the next page, click “Reset or Create Password.”

You’ll receive an email to reset or create your password. Click on the link in the password reset email to be taken to the “Reset or Create Password” page.
- The email has the subject line “Your Reset or Create Password Link from McGraw Hill” and comes from no-reply@accounts.mheducation.com.
- You may need to check your junk/spam folder.
- Create and confirm your new password and click “Continue.”
- You will receive an email from McGraw Hill notifying you that the password reset was successful. Important: If you have a Boards & Beyond, Clinical Reasoning, and/or First Aid Forward account with the same email, the password you reset for First Aid Forward will also be the new password for your Boards & Beyond, Clinical Reasoning, and/or First Aid Forward account(s).
- You do not need to set a password to access First Aid Forward. Instead, you can select the Sign-In Method Temporary Access Link to login without a password whenever you want to access the site. Temporary Access Links are one-time use and must be used within 24 hours.

Is there a mobile app for First Aid Forward?
Currently, there is no mobile app for First Aid Forward, although the site is functional in mobile.
What are the technical requirements for using First Aid Forward?
All you need to access First Aid Forward is an Internet connection. The site is functional in mobile but performs best on laptop/desktop. If you experience issues, check that you are using the most up-to-date version of your web browser (e.g., Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge). We recommend clearing your browser cache/history occasionally if you are experiencing intermittent issues logging in or when logged in and interacting with the content.
Can I download content for offline access?
Currently, First Aid Forward content cannot be downloaded for offline access.
How do I subscribe to notifications or updates from the platform, such as content updates or new feature releases?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in First Aid Forward
Our institution doesn’t allow the use of AI for learning. Is it possible to disable any AI features?
Yes, AI features may be disabled upon request for your institution. Prior to a trial or subscription, please inform your account manager that disabling AI features is an institutional policy requirement. If the trial or subscription has already begun, please reach out to your account manager or contact Customer Success at customersuccess@mheducation.com.

Can I sign up for a free trial of First Aid Forward?

Cancel before the end of the trial period. Trials automatically continue as paid subscriptions, unless canceled before end of the respective trial period. Cancel before your free trial ends in My Account > Order History to avoid getting billed. How do I cancel a free trial?
